Description of metropolitan area
Madrid is the capital of Spain located in the centre. Madrid has together with 179 surrounding municipalities a regional Parliament and Government, ‘Comunidad de Madrid’ :
- Madrid City (Zone A),
- The metropolitan ring, consisting of closely linked mediumsized and large municipalities, located in the metropolitan area immediately around the city of Madrid (B rings),
- The regional ring, consisting of a number of small and mediumsized municipalities (C rings).
